The probability of oil leakage in the manual installation of the rotary oil filters is very high. Most of the disputes arise because the boss doesn't understand the basic knowledge of parts and maintenance, and the selection and dispute of products are completely subject to the maintenance master. In addition, after the transformation and upgrading of terminal maintenance enterprises, the erection management department can not solve the problems in the installation process of products.

Today, I'd like to talk about several factors that cause oil leakage after the installation of a rotary oil filter:

Environmental factor

Problem: When replacing the spin-on oil filter, if there are impurities or scratches on the base, the sealing ring may be damaged in friction during installation. Under the action of oil pressure, oil leakage may not occur immediately, but if the sealing ring continues to be damaged for a long time, oil leakage will occur.

Solution: after removing the rotary oil filter that needs to be replaced, wipes the residue of the oil filter base with a clean towel, fills the oil filter with oil, and install and tighten the sealing ring after applying oil.

Construction factors

Problem 1: in the installation process, the tool metal should be prevented from squeezing the spin-on oil filter housing, resulting in deformation or wear. Later, it is easy to burst under the operation of high temperature and high-pressure oil. Once there is pressure impact, oil leakage will occur.

Solution 1: if the rotation is too tight, the filter housing is easy to collides with the filter seat and damage the filter and filter seat. If the rotation is too loose, the rubber ring does not have the ideal effect of rebound, which is prone to oil leakage and even the risk of filter falling.

Problem 2: for vehicles maintained by car owners in different repair factories, the installation force of spin-mounted oil filter is too large, which will lead to the deformation of the oil filter shell, and the sliding wire damage and oil leakage in the installation groove of oil filter base.

Solution 2: when installing the spin-on oil filter, it is necessary to operate in strict accordance with the product installation instructions. The protruding distance of the sealing ring is designed in the range of 1.5 ~ 1.8mm, the screw pitch is 1.58mm, and rotating 3 / 4 turns is equivalent to tightening 1.19mm. The exposed sealing ring plays the role of earthquake resistance and shell collision, which is the ideal distance for the rebound rate of the sealing ring.

Sealing ring factor

Problem 1: if the sealing ring is not greased during the installation of the oil filter, the oil filter needs to rotate during the installation process, and the sealing ring can no longer slide smoothly in the groove and on the base. In this way, the sealing ring will be pulled or even broken, resulting in oil leakage.

Solution 1: Before replacing the spin-on oil filter, apply some new oil to the sealing ring, and then install it.

Problem 2: When removing the old oil filter, due to the excessive rotation force the previous time, the old sealing ring adhered to the filter base, but the installer did not find it. After the new oil filter is installed, there will be oil leakage.

Solution 2: When replacing the oil filter, pay more attention to whether the rubber ring on the replaced oil filter is stuck on the oil filter base. Before installation, carefully clean the installation base of the oil filter.
