The Gammon Gauge Gauge is an instrument designed to provide a simple rating of the condition of the filter elements in the jet fuel filter container. It does this by comparing inlet and outlet pressures and showing the difference.
The actual pressure is independent of the condition of the filter elements unless they are blocked.

We have reviewed three of these filters, and all three fail in at least one aspect of construction. There are several different "AN" style filters, all about the same size, but different in several respects.
The three we sent to us from the site all had incorrect seals and less filter paper, and two were not tightly sealed. A seal is not compatible even in jet fuel. The reason is simple: The Gammon Gauge filter is not AN "AN" filter. He never thought people would use AN "AN" filter instead.

True Gammon Gauge filters have the part number GTP-2233 printed on the end cover. It has 30 filter paper folds and a Viton seal ring that fits tightly into the Gauge, so tight that disassembling the Gammon Gauge filter can be a bit difficult, which is why we have a tool for this disassembly.

"These costs can mean thousands of dollars spent on replacement parts and thousands of dollars lost productivity every day."
Replacing the directional control valve, the most sensitive part of a hydraulic system, can cost between $10,000 and $15,000 if it is damaged by contaminants, Klick said.
Particulate matter pollution Contamination of fluid in hydraulic and lubrication systems is generally considered to be the most important factor in reducing equipment reliability and service life. Failures of fluid power components or systems are often associated with excessive contamination.
Particle contaminants enter the system in a variety of ways. The system is assembled with built-in contaminants in components that may include cylinders, fluids, hydraulic motors, fuel tanks, and valves.
Contaminants can also be generated during system operation through wear mechanisms or through fluid decomposition. External intrusion may also occur during tank breathing, or through cylinders, bearings, and other component seals.
In addition, contaminants may be introduced during scheduled maintenance as equipment is disassembled and reassembled and lubricants are refilled.
Careful monitoring Careful monitoring and control kubota l3130 hydraulic filter of these particulate pollutants is critical. "Given the current operating conditions and the extreme dirtiness of the transmission oil, it is not surprising that the 7-micron filter became clogged with contaminants within two weeks," Klick said.
According to Donaldson, a second analysis shows that the oil is now 125 times cleaner, extending the life of some components by 3.5 times.
